@radiusmax This demo does not use HADB, it uses in-memory session state replication (in-memory clustiner). HADB would require more steps, so just avoid it unless you need %99.999 availability. Note, there is a bug in GlassFish v2.1 for 2-instance in-memory clustering (although I believe 3+ instance cluster works). It's been patched for those that have a subscription, or you can wait until GlassFish v2.1.1 this fall.

This is the status of the KDE Plasma Netbook project as of july 2009, this is still an eary prototype (many things will change drastically) but it shows in a quite good way the concept of the newspaper and search and launch activity (note that it searches both in local resources as applications and files as well as online ones as wikipedia)

Impressive. My first thoughts after having a look on the screenshots were that this will be more impractical then a regular UI. Also in comparison to the iPhone UI I thought this will be not very sucessful. However, after seeing this in motion and living color I am convinced, that this is a most outstanding UI and it will increase the user experience quite massively. I just fell in love with this. So continue your open work, and let the community know about your progress. :)

In real life this would mean we all have our own bodyguard and whereever you go, he, or she, goes with you and whenever you want something and you ask a third party for what you want, e.g. a bread or a beer, the bread and beer seller will ask your bodyguard if you really really want to buy these items, where it should be delivered and what prize you'd be paying. I use a different "virtual" email address for every site I sign up, if I get spam, I know who's the guilty site and I can boycott them. It also makes it easy to block this "virtual" address so I don't recieve spam.

the authentication part is fine but the email part is wrong, I don't want to use the same email for every site I sign up for. There are many solution to the too many users and passwords problems. this soluiton requires sites to implement it, that's never going to happen with enough sites to become a real solution for the user (and the big ones will not want to do this at all) isn't this like cardspace? (or whatever it was called) I'd rather use a plug in that saves my passwords locally

This is a disaster. There exist several ways to gain access to any server that checks with an IDP : One way that is not impossible is by using DNS poisoning so the service asks a fake IDP about "is this dave ?" ( or anyone else you wanna gain access for ) and always get yes answer.
